Yes, I’m a mum but I’m still “me”!

Since giving birth to my beautiful son (who is three months tomorrow can you believe!!!) I have gone out a few times to birthday parties, weddings etc and I always get people saying “well done, it’s good that your coming out” or “where is your baby?” To which I respond he is at home with his dad (thank you zaddy).

I would firstly like to just say that having a child should never stop you from being you. Ever.

Of course you will be different because you are now responsible for a little human which is probably one of the most important jobs you will ever have. But you are still you! Providing you can get help with childcare, go out once in a while with your friends... go on date night with your hubby... book yourself a spa day to relax because lord knows you need it.

It’s really easy to get so consumed with your little one as you are both figuring each other out and adjusting your life to fit around their schedule - but do not ever forget you were you before the baby came and that shouldn’t change (that much!).

You don’t want to get to a place where you start to resent your little one because you don’t spend time on yourself. You need to have a well deserved mini break from it all. Even if it’s just once a month for an hour!!!

Being a mum, especially a new mum, is hard work and is not without its challenges... take some time out for yourself and don’t regret it! It’s not being selfish, it’s staying sane!!!
